So, naturally we were thrilled to get a call from Kay Legget, whose daughter Ellie was about to turn 18. Proud mum Kay was looking to hire one of our ice cream vans for the upcoming birthday party, and we were happy to oblige! Jobs like this are something of a dream for us at Austin’s Ices. Not only were we excited to help Ellie and her friends truly celebrate in style, but to be a part of such an important occasion for the young lady was truly an honour.
The bash took place within the stunning grounds of the Legget family home, in the picturesque village of Bowden, Greater Manchester. Celebrations began around 6:30, and we were there for every fun-filled minute. Around 70 guests were in attendance, all excited to be a part of Ellie’s special day.
As we mentioned earlier, we find that outdoor events are an opportunity to get a little bit creative – and this was no exception. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Ellie and her family were aiming for a bit of a retro American theme, as we were greeted by the sight of an iconic yellow school bus which formed the centrepiece of the whole setup. Soft serve ice cream has its own ties to the idea of classic Americana, so we instantly felt right at home with our pristine, boldly decorated van and plentiful supply of Mr Whippy! And we didn’t stop there, providing our usual massive selection of ices and a few custom creations so that Ellie and her loved ones could enjoy a truly one-of-a-kind experience. At one point, while serenading guests with our happy birthday chimes, we even let the birthday girl become an honorary member of our team, as she hopped on board to serve her friends and family a variety of chilled treats.
As you might expect, the atmosphere at the party was absolutely electric. There was a magician on hand to dazzle the guests with amazing tricks and jaw-dropping stunts, as well as a trusted party favourite – the bouncy castle. We’re also pleased to say that the weather was spectacular – the kind of glorious summers eve that guarantees everyone’s going to be in fantastic sprits. Although we imagine the free bar may have helped on that front, too!
All in all, it was a hugely successful evening, with everyone having a wonderful time. Ellie has a bright future ahead of her, and we wish her all the very best!
